Adoptive & Foster Parent Association of Georgia
In 1973 the Adoptive and Foster Parent Association of Georgia was founded. AFPAG works in cooperation with public and private welfare agencies to improve foster care and adoption processes, support foster/adoptive families and provide educational training related to family needs within the foster care system. The association advocate for Foster and Adoptive Parents at the local county and state DFCS levels, as well as with the Georgia General Assembly regarding child-welfare issues that impact our families. Local Chapters
AFPAG supports and encourages the start-up and continued growth of smaller chapters on a county or regional level. This gives foster and adoptive parents direct support. Individuals and families can contact the State AFPAG association or their local county DFCS office to get more information on meeting times and location within the county or region.
Georgia Center for Resources and Support
The Georgia Center for Resources and Support (GACRS) was designed in 2001 by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services to assist in strengthening Georgia’s adoptive and foster families. It is managed by Families First.
The purpose of the Georgia Center is to provide a central resource for adoptive parents to help them locate resources that can help them be successful in meeting the needs of their adopted children. On July 1, 2004, GACRS expanded its services to meet the needs of both adoptive and foster families who reside in the state of Georgia.
GACRS administrative office and library are located at 1105 West Peachtree St. NE in Atlanta. Regional Resource Advisors are located in communities throughout the state and are available to help families clarify their needs, locate resources and feel supported as they resolve concerns encountered as an adoptive and/or foster care family. GACRS cooperates with and coordinates referrals to many resources throughout the state. It is a non-profit organization and services are offered at no charge to all adoptive and foster families living in Georgia. Adoptive families who reside in Georgia can utilize GACRS services regardless of the origin of their adoption.

Promise 686
Promise 686 collaborates with a group of churches and organizations called The Promise Network. They help their church partners and affiliates implement a step-by-step model called Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMs). As part of The Promise Network, their partners receive training, resources, and ongoing staff support from Promise 686.
Promise 686 offers such services as the CarePortal and Care Communities to help families and communities meet the needs of children and families.
